Good Summer Fishing It has been a while since my last report. I simply have not had the time. Over the last week Baxter House has been crazy. I have been doubling up with my mornings on the Main Stem for Bass and Walleye and my afternoons on the West Branch chasing fussy Trout. In this same time period we were putting out 5 boats a day with the Project Healing Waters Program. We are proud to Join the DeBruce Fly Fishing Club and the Catskill Fly Fishing Museum in hosting our

SUNNY DAY BROWNS and Bass! Summer officially started this week and the Upper Delaware Rivers are at their normal summertime flows. This is a period where the Baxter House guide staff splits their time between floating the West Branch and the Upper Main Stem for Trout and the lower Main Stem for Bass and Walleye. This week I have been on the West Branch every day. At this time anglers will find good fishing on the West Branch but with some challenges attached. In the Upper Riv

The Trout fishing is entering into early summer conditions. This is a time where a lot of the larger insects of spring are becoming scarce and the Trout are turning their attention to the smaller insects. MORE RAINFALL AND CLEARING CONDITIONS Last night more rainfall fell on the Upper Delaware Region. Last nights rain was not much more than some passing showers but every amount of rain helps as we head into the summer months. The Rainfall combined with the cooler weather forecast should provide anglers with some nice fishing conditions this week. Tomorrow through Friday daytime air temps. are expected to stay in the 50"s to low 60's. This morning all of our local rivers have w

Heavy Rain in the Upper Delaware! Yesterday we had some heavy rainfall in the Upper Delaware region. This was the first real soaker in a long time. This morning all area rivers except the Upper East branch are running high and turbid. These conditions should be with us for most of today but I expect the water to drop very quickly. By tomorrow all of our rivers should be back to clear water conditions. The rainfall and the total cloud cover yesterday helped to drop water tempe

WEEKEND OUTLOOK! This weekend is one of the most anticipated weekends of the trout fishing season in the Upper Delaware. This is the time where the seasons greatest diversity of insect life will be active simultaneously. This season however mother nature is not completely on the side of us fly fishermen. Currently low water conditions are making things tough. At this time most all of the activity with the larger flies has shifted to well after dark. Daytime fishing is curr

BUG WEEK! Bug week is upon us! This week has always been one of the most popular times in the Upper Delaware Region due to the diversity of insects and the action associated with the Big Green and Brown Drakes and their Spinners. This action is in full swing right now but most anglers are having mixed results. The low water conditions and the first heatwave of 2016 have the insects and Trout switched to mostly nocturnal activity. The amount of insects and rising fish just af
