I have not posted a report in a while. The polar vortex that had its grip on most of the country through early January is the reason. Through most of this month cold temperatures and steady north winds have made the fishing tougher than usual. There was a 2 week period where I actually cancelled or rescheduled most of my bookings. At this time it appears that Florida weather has returned and the fishing is improving with each bright sunny day. For the last week I have been back on the water every day. Fly Fishing Report for Tampa Bay

Florida Weather Returns A big Jack Crevale that gave Marty a 20 minute workout on a #10 rod. This big fish took a 2/0 kinky muddler pattern fished on a sink tip line. The report The recent blast of cold have given way to more normal weather. Over the last few days bright sun, light winds and warm temperatures have water temperatures slowly rising. The Trout fishing is pretty good as these abundant fish do well in cooler water. We are finding them in a bit deeper water than usual, especially early in the day. Tampa Bay Fly Fishing Report

2018 Starts with the North Winds Blowing. Over the last few days the deep freeze that has much of the country shivering has made it's way south. Much of Florida including Tampa Bay is bracing for a cold front. It has been in the high 40's to mid 50's during the day but the winds have been so strong that the wind chill has been near freeing in some places. The next few days of this weather is sure to put the fish off for a bit. I have still been out about every day recently and have had to change tactics with each progressively colder day..
