MORE OPTIONS FOR TROUT! Over the last week the cooler weather has had a positive effect on all of our local rivers. At this time the conditions are in transition back to the temperature range where trout will become more aggressive in their feeding habits. This week there are far more options for us fly fishermen. The water of the Beaverkill, Willlowemoc, Lower East Branch and Main Stem are cooling quickly. They are all in a good range now for Trout to be active. Water tempe

WEEKEND OUTLOOK A Big Streamer Eater taken by Guide Matt during a short period of turbidity this week. This week the good fishing continued. With the regular rainfall and cooler weather mother nature has been taking care of our wild trout and insects. Just about every trip that went out this week was very good. All of our guests have had great action on nymphs regardless of the river section chosen. Right now the trout want to eat and if you get a nymph in front of them they

RAIN AND COOLER WEATHER Yesterday we had more rainfall throughout the region. The storms that passed through dropped a good amount of rainfall in some areas. This morning all of our rivers are on the rise again. We are also expecting our first cold front in a while. Tonight the weather is expected to turn much cooler. Over the next four to five days the daytime highs are only expected to rise into the mid 60's. The overnight temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 40

NYMPHING GETTING HOT! Both of the Trout below were taken on tiny nymphs over the weekend. Every year there comes a time in late summer where the daytime Sulfurs start to become less reliable and there is window of time where the trouts normal routine starts to change. Every year as this occurs the nymphing catches fire and our guests really start to run the numbers up. Over the last week or so there has been a big increase in the way the fish are going for nymphs. Almost ever

WEEKEND OUTLOOK We have pretty good fishing conditions for the middle of August. Our recent weather trend has been cooler with most days in the mid 70's. Regular rainfall and overcast skies have also been a factor in keeping our rivers in good condition. This morning there is light rain falling and the forecast is calling for heavier rainfall throughout the day. There is a chance for up to 3/4" of precipitation. At the current time the best places to fish for Trout remains

We also had some late night Trout hunts on the tailwaters. Overall the fishing remains pretty good. Below is a quick recap of what has been going on. I have been on Trout trips for the last 6 days. All of my time has been split between the Upper West and Upper East Branches. Over thi

WEEKEND OUTLOOK Sorry for the late posting of the weekend outlook. Yesterday I was out on the river very early with guests. Today's report will be quick and to the point. There is not much change in overall fishing conditions since my last report which is still available on our blog page. The only real difference is some wet weather moved into the region yesterday. This rain was mostly light but some areas got locally heavy downpours. The area most effected is the Beamoc wate

VERY GOOD SUMMER ACTION FOR TROUT AND BASS! This past weekend was full of action for our guests. Our guides were once again split pretty evenly between Trout and Smallmouth Bass fishing. Overall our trips were great and all of our guests had solid fishing. We had boats and guests on both the East, West and Main Delaware for Trout. We also had several trips on the Main Delaware targeting Smallmouth Bass. With the cooler weather and mix of sunny and overcast conditions the fis

Weekend Outlook The fishing was pretty good for the last week and there is no reason to expect it to change much. During that period there have been quick moving weather fronts that have been bringing us thunder storms and cooler weather . The forecast looking forward appears to be following the same pattern. The Baxter House guides had another busy week. We all had both Trout and Smallmouth Bass trips. Both Zach and Matt also spent some time with guests in the darkness chasi
