Fly Fishing Report for the Upper Delaware and Catskill Rivers


BUG WEEK REPORT

Bug week 2018 is here and the fishing is very good. Expect to see Drakes, March Browns, Hendos, ISOs, Sledge Caddis, Olives and a few sulfers. There have been great spinner falls in the evening as well.

Our freestone rivers, the Beaver Kill and the Willow are fishing exceptionally well. There have been steady hatches on these rivers throughout the day and fish are eating very well. It's expected stay cool and overcast throughout the week which should set us up for a great week of fishing.

Nymph fishing has been doing very well. If you plan on fishing the Beamoc areas try high sticking in shallow pocket waters with a small pheasant tail or ice caddis.

Great dry fly action especially in the evening hours. The spinner falls have been particularly good and consistent throughout the week.

The drakes our on especially on our our freestones. We have great reports that good drake hatches are being spotted on the beaver kill and willow. Expect to see the drakes on the Delaware areas in the next few days.

Wade fishing is very accessible right now. With the rivers at a great flow, anglers should not have any problems walking around the rivers.

Overall, bug week is proving to be a great time. A lot of bug and a lot of big hungry trout. Anglers will options of fishing in all diverse ways. Expect great nymping throughout the day. We have been doing excellent with a 3 nymph rig.
