If you are heading up to the area to fish this weekend don't forget to stop by the Roscoe Beer Company in the afternoon. Baxter House and the Beer Co. are Hosting TFO / Temple Fork Outfitters for a DEMO DAY. You can stop by and try out Trout Town Beer and all of the great TFO rods, reels and gear. We will also have members of our guide staff on hand to answer questions and give casting instruction. The event starts at noon and run throughout the afternoon.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK

The photos above are from Guide Matt's trip yesterday with Joe Cusato

As we head into the weekend the fishing conditions are about as good as it gets as far at water temperature and the Trout being active and aggressive.

As far as the weather goes it should be a normal weekend with clouds and rain falling. The predictions are for about 3/4" of total rainfall for the weekend. How the rainfall will change conditions is dependent on where the rainfall occurs in the system. We will keep you posted if things change dramatically. Other than that the rainfall is a welcome condition to our guides and guests since it as a guarantee that the fish will be feeding throughout the day.

Around the system there are lots of options for both wade and drift boat anglers. If you are on foot the Willowemoc, West Branch, Beaverkill and East branch are your best options. I have them listed in the order of ease to wade and access.

Hendricksons and Apple Caddis are still the main staple in the trouts diet. Spinners are the most important stage and over the last few days I have been rigging my guests from start to finish with our hackle wing spinner. The fish have been keyed in on these spinners and we have been running the numbers up every day. This week I have had many guests with double digit catches. In addition to the big numbers the overall size of the trout have been big. Our guests have been putting 20"+ trout in the net like crazy.

The fish above are from my East Branch float yesterday. We had great dry fly action and put together a good numbers day of assorted size Brown trout.

At this time anglers should also be stocking up on March Browns, Sulfurs and Caddisflies. The faster water sections of the Main Stem are starting to give up some sparse activity with these giant duns. For this hatch we have a full lineup of patterns available. Stop in and check out our Hackle Wing Cripples and patterns for the entire March Brown life cycle.

Right now anglers fishing areas of heavy caddis activity are finding some very fussy fish. This issue is usually overcome with a good drag free float and a fly that is either spent wing or crippled. We have been having good luck with our Hackle Wing Caddis Cripple and the Iris Caddis pattern. Both are in stock in all of the applicable sizes.

This season we expect the spring insect hatches to run much longer than usual. Now is the time to give us a call and book a trip. 607-290-4022
