Tampa Bay Fly Fishing Report

Over the last 2 weeks the warm weather has really improved the fishing. Over this time I have been fishing my guests mostly for Snook, both on the flats and in the mangroves. I have been chasing the snook both day and night. The night action has been incredible at times.

Over this time there has also been a good amount of action with fish working bait. This action has been a mix of Jack crevales, mackerel and ladyfish. Recently I had an afternoon where some huge schools of giant Jacks invaded a small bay and tore it up for a few hours.

The Spotted Trout fishing remains very reliable especially when the winds lay down and you can drift the edges of the flats. I have been targeting these fish with #5 and #6 rods which make for some exciting action. Just about every day we have been taking some 20" class fish.
