Upper Delaware Fly Fishing Report
This morning the day dawned with the sun out and no snow squalls. This is the first day in a while where we are not expecting snow squalls or rainfall. Today winter is also forecast to loosen it's grip on the Upper Delaware region. Beginning tomorrow we are expecting more springlike conditions with air temperatures around 50 degrees.
Over the past week we cancelled or rescheduled all of our guided trips so I have little to report directly from the river.
We resumed our guiding schedule today and do not anticipate any further cancellations for the remainder of the spring season.
I expect this coming week to offer good fishing. There is no reason that the action won't quickly rebound with the warmer weather forecast.
Currently we have a good amount of water in the system. For those of you who folllow the USGS here are today's flow numbers - Beaverkill 870 cfs, East Branch 571 cfs, Lower East 1630 cfs, West Branch 643 cfs, Main Stem 4170 cfs. These are more normal flows for early spring.
Based on these flow rates our guests can expect to have lots of options on our upcoming float trips. We will be able to expect action on Dry Flies, Nymphs and Streamer Flies. In the river sections with the higher flow rates we can expect to have a pretty good streamer bite and the opportunity to take some really big brown trout.
We have a few openings for float trips during the upcoming week.
