Upper Delaware Fly Fishing Report

THURSDAY

All Upper Delaware Rivers are high and cold at this time.

Right now we are having about the best fishing of the season! I have been out every day and recently the action has been pretty fast and furious.

Yesterday was another incredible day of streamer fishing. Baxter House had several boats on the water and it was non stop action. Below are a few photos from my boat. We had lots of action and we put some 18" to with larger Brown Trout up to 20"

We have several opening for float trips this weekend and next week. Give us a call today at 607-290-4022

Over the last week my guests have had some of the most frenzied dry fly fishing of the year. Isonychia have been pouring from the rivers and the dry fly action has been lasting alomost all day. Over this time period we have put some real big trout in the net! As soon as the water drops a bit this hot dry fly action should pick back up.

The coming day are going to offer excellent hunting for huge Brown Trout with streamer in addition to the dry fly action.

I have several openings this week if you want to get out. I have tomorrow open and both Saturday and Sunday. Call the shop if you want to take a day

At this time every river in the system has good water flows and the correct water temperatures for insects and trout to be active. We are currently able to float about every secction of river in the system. For those of you who enjoy floating the Main Stem Delaware with us conditions are good. I have been on the Main the last few days and there have been excellent hatches and rising Trout about everywhere. On the last 2 floats we fished the dry fly for almost the entire floats with steady action. Over the last few days Isonychia have been emerging heavily and the trout are on them. If you want to get out this week give us a call in the shop - 607-290-4022

Anglers fishing in the coming days will find most of our rivers to be on the high side. There is turbidity that varies from section to section but there is at least a light some turbidity everywhere. This should continue to clear over the next few days. The level of turbidity that is currently in the Main Stem is perfect for rising fish.

River Flow Table

The INSECTS

Currently there are Yellow Drakes, Cornuta Olives Green Drakes, Brown Drakes, Isonychia, Steno's, Sulfurs, Stoneflies, Caddisflies and more emerging from all Upper Delaware Rivers. There is good spinner activity most nights. Anglers should now target the areas around the faster riffles and pocket water. Most of the insects that are emerging now are fast water dwellers and all of the late day spinner activity will happen in these same areas.

The Sulfurs and Olives are now the Main Staple in the Trout's diet. The larger insects are only on the water at times and rarely in large numbers
