Upper Delaware Fly Fishing Report
Yesterday afternoon our heatwave ended as a cold front pushed into the region. Last night our air temperatures dipped into the mid 40's and today we are expecting highs in the 50's.
This morning all Upper Delaware river have temperatures that are below 65 degrees and falling. We are expecting the cool weather to remain for the time being. Overnight air temps are forecast to be near freezing for the next 2 nights.
There is some rain in the forecast for Friday and Saturday. Hopefully this forecast will prove true and our rivers will get a nice refresh.
As of now we are not cancelling any more of our scheduled trips. Over the last 5 days we have cancelled most float trips or changed them to walk wades. Our guides are currently taking our guests out very early in the day and fishing before the sun hits the water. We have been concluding most of these trips in early afternoon and leaving the trout alone during the evening hours. We expect the changing weather to get our guide schedule back to business as usual.
Right now there are solid insect hatches and the Trout are feeding well. The nymph fishing is very good.
Currently the bugs in the system are Hendricksons, Blue Quills, Caddisflies, Stoneflies, March Browns. We are about to enter the period of the season where big mayflies will be on the water daily!
