Upper Delaware Fly Fishing Report

Some Rainfall and Good Fishing Wednesday some substantial rainfall finally found it's way to the Upper Delaware River System. This rain was long overdue and it arrived at a perfect time. Our rivers are now bank full as are all of the tributaries that feed the main rivers. I have still been on the water every day and the fishing is still very good most days. The weather has been much warmer than normal and the only negative has been the wind on some days. Even with the wind my guests have still been doing very well. Despite all of the insects the dry fly action is not as reliable as normal. Quite simply it is still too warm and until we get some much

Weekend Outlook This weekend will be the first in a while where anglers will have lots of options. All Upper Delaware and Catskill rivers are in good shape thanks to the rainfall earlier this week. At this time all of our rivers are clear of turbidity and easily wadable. This week also brought in our first sustained shilly weather of the autumn season. Now is the time for light jackets and some layering garments. The mountains are in full color now and it is a beautiful time to be on the river. Yesterday the insect hatches continued to improve and there were periods where there were lots of insects about. The Blue WIng Olives are improving. There has also been good activity from Isonychia,
