Fly Tying Classes 2009
In 2009 we have a nice slate of 1 day fly tying classes scheduled. This year our classes will cover a wide range of topics with offerings for intermediate to experienced fly tyers.
All of our classes are at Baxter House. Baxter House supplies all materials and tools necessary to complete the flies being featured in each class. We do encourage students to bring their own vises and tools should they have them. Refreshments are available at all classes.

Saturday April 4 - 10:30am - 3:30pm - Tying Articulated Streamers with Ken Tutalo - In this class students will learn to tie 5 of
the most productive "BIG FISH FLIES" that our guides use. Participants
will learn the techniques for making Single Hook">

Ralph Graves Saturday April 4 - 10:30am - 3:30pm - Tying
Articulated Streamers with Ken Tutalo - In this class students will learn to tie 5 of
the most productive "BIG FISH FLIES" that our guides use. Participants
will learn the techniques for making Single Hook, Articulated Flies and String
Flies. Within these tying styles we'll be using a variety of materials
including, Rabbit Strips, Marabou, Soft Hackles, and Synthetic Winging Fibers.
We'll also explain our concepts for blending Natural and Synthetic materials and
How to create the illusion of life in distress and much more... All participants
will leave this class with 5 different styles of completed flies and a good
working knowledge on how to create their own patterns using these tying styles.
Additionally we'll fully explain the use of each style; How to fish them, Type
of water for each and conditions where each excels. Class Cost $75.00 per person (lunch is
included in this class)
********************************************************** Saturday April 18 - 9:00am - 1:30pm - Tying
Dry Flies with CDC Anglers who regularly fish the waters of the
Upper Delaware know the value of CDC style dry flies. The qualities that these
feathers possess make it possible to create like life surface flies that
consistently fool selective Trout. In this class Ken will teach the steps
involved in making 6 different styles of surface floating flies. Participants
will tie; Simple Caddisflie Pattern, Crippled Emerger, Parachute Mayfly, Mayfly
Knock Down Dun, Simple Mayfly Emerger and CDC Sparkle Dun. Tyers who stock their fly boxes with a good
selection of these patterns will have the advantage over the Selective Trout of
the Upper Delaware. Class Cost $75.00 per person Saturday April 11, May 16, June 6 - 11:00am -
3:30pm - Tying Wet Flies in the Catskill Tradition Master Fly Tyer Ralph Graves will take you
through the steps of tying some of the classic wet fly patterns. These flies
have proven their fish catching ability for generations. Some of the flies you
will tie include the following; Leadwing Coachman, March Brown, Quill Gordon,
Lady Beaverkill, and Catskill. Class Cost $65.00 per person
