Big Game, Upland Game and Waterfowl Hunting

Baxter House River Outfitters has several different hunts available during the 2008 Season!

Early Season Goose (Sept 1 – 25) – Early Season offers great hunting for Resident Canadian Geese. During the early season Geese are plentiful, easy to decoy and bag limits are generous.

We have access to several prime farms in New York’s Mohawk Valley which is a hotspot for Canadian Geese. This area’s abundance of agriculture has made Canadian Geese a year round fixture here. Our guides will share their strategy, including setup of decoy spreads, hunter placement and concealment, and calling techniques.

Early season Goose Hunts are Dawn until Noon. Cost is $150.00 per man. (2 person Minimum) Lodging can be arranged at an additional cost.

Early and Late Season Duck – Duck Season is split into 2 seasons. We have several hunts available for duck. Our hunt locations are numerous and range from river and pond hunts in the Catskills to large water and field hunts in Central and Western New York and New Jersey.

Upland Hunting (Mid Sept. through Nov.) Grouse, Woodcock, Pheasant- Our upland hunts are on the thousands of wild acres that are within minutes of our lodge in Roscoe. These hunts are for wild birds! Over the last few years our Grouse populations have been on the rise. The mountain habitat in our river valleys is perfect habitat for these elusive game birds. This same cover is a magnet for Woodcock during their migration/ During open season we regularly find both birds in the same areas. We will also occasionally hunt on some of the state managed game lands. These lands are occasionally stocked with Pheasant. We can also arrange for preserve hunts for Pheasant and Chuckar Partrige. (preserve hunts are priced differently, call for details)

All of our hunts are over well trained pointing dogs and are full day hunts. Cost per Day $350.00 one or two hunters. Lodging available at daily rate.

Upland Bird Hunting Package- Package includes 3 nights lodging and 2 full days of guided hunting.. 2 Days hunts really let you immerse yourself in the autumn woods.

Hunting Package cost $850.00 for one or two hunters

Lodging for Hunters – The thousands of acres of public land that surround the Roscoe area are home to a variety of big and small game. Baxter House has several lodging packages available for hunters in every season. Big Game – Bow Season – Hunters may reserve rooms at our regular rates on a first come first serve system. Big Game Rifle Season- During rifle season we will be offering rooms by the week. Cost is $ 475.00 per person. We also have the entire house available for rent at the rate of $2750.00 per week. The house can sleep 12-14 hunters. An additional house is available for 1850.00 per week. Sleeps 6-7 hunters. Both houses are in Roscoe and have direct tv and wireless internet.
